About Fontana

A lively, energetic and passionate string quartet that has been working together since September 2021. The ensemble features the violinists Menno Verloop and Caspar Bellamy, violist Elin Haver and the cellist Isaac Lottman. They've found common ground on both personal and musical level. And, importantly, they have shared ambitions.

All four attended the Sweelinck Academy, and now study at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, where they meet for rehearsals and lessons with Dmitri Ferschtman.

Since their formation they have given a number of concerts; on the radio channel “Concertzender”, in the intimate Mosterdzaadje in Santpoort and in other churches around the Netherlands. They have also on a few occasions been asked by the Conservatorium van Amsterdam to represent the school in (presentation) concerts.

Their repertoire includes works by Smetana, Mendelssohn and Britten.

In addition, Fontana is currently collaborating with a young Portugese soprano, Madalena Massano, with whom they’ve put together a beautiful programme. In March 2024 they are set to go on tour to Portugal. See the agenda for more information!
